Travel Guide: 3 Days in Illinois - What You Need to Do
Three Days in Illinois: What You Need to Do
If you find yourself in Illinois or Chicago specifically for just a few days maybe for work, you might think that you don’t have enough time to explore and see the city and state. In reality, there is so much to do packed into such a small area that even if you’re in Illinois for just a few days, you can still make some life-long memories. Here are a few things you must do while in Illinois for a few days.
Go to the Lakeshore
The Great Lakes are so huge, many people could easily mistake them for an ocean. Lake Michigan especially is massive and Chicago sits right on the shores of Lake Michigan. If you have the time and you find yourself in Chicago in the summertime, you should take at least a few hours to relax on the beach or explore the parks and areas around the lake.
Eat Some Authentic Chicago Food
Chicago is well-known for the food that the city offers. From authentic hot dogs to the deep-dish pizza, you really can’t get anything close to this kind of food anywhere else in the world. While you’re there, make sure you’re eating a Chicago classic and avoid anything else you can get at home.
Explore Some Museums
If you have a few hours to kill while in the city, you should check out one of the many museums and discovery centers in the area. The main hub is known as Museum Campus, and as you probably guessed, there are tons of museums in the area. From Shedd Aquarium to Adler Planetarium or Field Museum, you can easily spend an entire day here.
Take in the Views
If you venture to the top of Willis Tower, one of the most iconic buildings in Chicago, you can look over the edge and get your heart racing by stepping into the enclosed balconies of The Ledge. Take in the views for an experience like no other.
